Boing….back in Bangkok!

Ya’ know something about Asia that I never talked about is, how thing don’t happen in the way you expect, and sometimes they don’t happen at all. I went to Phnom Penh to get a 90 day Education Visa. To get one I have to go to a Thai Embassy in the capital of any of the neighboring countries. It’s supposed to take two business days. That’s why I went to Singapore, but it was Buddhist Lent (a holiday) the Friday I was there went, so It would take til Monday. So I didn’t get the visa in Singapore. Instead I got another 30 day tourist visa, and that brought me to this week. Last night I left the festivities in Phnom Penh at 11:00 so I could get to the Thai Embassy bright and early, and there I was at 8 AM all my documents in hand ready to apply for my visa. Everything was cool until the lady behind the glass puts a sign up that says “pick up visa Aug 22”. They just arbitrarily added a day to the process. I was already worrying about missing school on Friday and this meant I would miss Monday too. I couldn’t do that, so I flew back to Bangkok today. Now I can make it to class in the morning and I have another 30 days in Thailand. I guess I should be frustrated about it all, but I’m not. I got a visa….just not the one I expected…..nope….I’m not frustrated, I’m just in Asia.

Yup, you'd think that the fact that my place went through probate for like 3 1/2 years would clear it. Nope! First of all, it was never put into my grandfathers name for some reason, so I have to prove that it was his to give to me. Even though, you'd THINK that's what the lawers jobs were. I called them too, keep getting V/M and they don't call me back. I'm fixin to stop by (maybe a drive by).

Love, Dorri

So update! I freakin found the deed in my grandfathers name. Why there's no record of it? I don't know. A ball was dropped somewhere some 15 years ago. Oh well...all is well! I found the deed and the paperwork from the probate that says it's mine. Phew! Load off my back. Now it's going to go on the market in like 2 weeks! OMG am I really doing this or is this a dream? It feels so surreal. I know you and Harvey know what I mean. Selling your places and all, the ones you've lived in forever to journey off to new lands. Well mine's not so new, but I still don't know anybody really, and I don't have a buddy to come with me!! =( I'm not scurred though! (ok, just a little, but you didn't hear it from me!)

Love and Smooches, Dorri
